When a Golf Day Becomes a Movement

Prostate Cancer Awareness

Sometimes a golf day is about the competition.

Sometimes it is about getting out into the sunshine, catching up with familiar faces, enjoying a few refreshments and seeing who can actually hit the ball in the direction they intended.

And sometimes, it is about something much bigger.

This time, the REMAX and Simon Salm Golf Day Challenge was all about coming together to raise awareness and much-needed funds for prostate cancer.

And what a day it was.

With $12,029 raised for prostate cancer awareness, the event delivered far more than a few good drives and questionable putting decisions.

It brought people together for a cause that matters, created plenty of laughs along the way, and reminded everyone that a great day out can also make a meaningful difference.

The morning started at around 6:30am, which is an extremely early hour for anyone who believes coffee should be considered a food group.

The day got underway with plenty of energy and enthusiasm.

And by the time the event wrapped up around 2:00pm, there was one number everyone could be proud of:

🌅 6:30am: The Day Begins

Golf days don't start when the first golfer arrives.

They start when the organizers arrive.

And on this particular morning, that meant being up and ready from around 6:30am.

The sun was beginning to rise, the course was getting ready for a busy day, and the team was preparing everything needed to welcome the players.

The course was ready. The players were arriving. The refreshments were prepared. The prizes were waiting.

And most importantly, everyone was there for a reason.

To raise money and awareness for prostate cancer.

☀️ A Beautiful Hot Day to Start Spring

The weather provided the perfect backdrop for the event, with plenty of sunshine and a warm atmosphere — both literally and figuratively.

As the day progressed, the course became a hive of activity.

Golfers made their way around the course, conversations continued between shots, and there was plenty of friendly competition.

Of course, golf has a funny way of bringing out everyone's competitive side.

A simple sentence like: "It's just a friendly game." can very quickly become: "Who has the scorecard?" And then: "Wait... how many shots did you have on that hole?"

But that's part of the fun.

The day wasn't just about who had the best score. It was about everyone taking part and contributing to something bigger.

⛳ Simon Salm Sponsors a Hole

One of the highlights of the event was having Simon Salm sponsor a hole.

Hole sponsorship gave Simon and the team another opportunity to support the fundraising effort while creating a memorable part of the day for the players.

And naturally, a sponsored golf hole is also an excellent place to remind everyone why they were there.

Golf can bring people together. Community can bring people together. And fundraising can turn that shared experience into something that makes a real difference.

That was the spirit of the day.

A group of people coming together, enjoying themselves, and using the event to support prostate cancer awareness.

🍬 The Great Jelly Bean Challenge

Now, every good fundraising event needs a little bit of mystery.

Enter: The Jelly Bean Jar.

We had our very own Guess How Many Jelly Beans Are in the Jar competition, giving everyone the opportunity to put their estimating skills to the ultimate test.

There was only one problem.

Nobody knew the answer.

The clue?
"It's more than you think."

Simple. Mysterious. And possibly responsible for some wildly optimistic guesses.

People looked at the jar. They assessed the size. They studied the jelly beans. They probably performed calculations that would have impressed a mathematician.

And then came the guesses.

Some were impressively confident. Some were impressively wrong. And some were probably based entirely on vibes.

But that's what made the challenge so much fun.

It wasn't just about winning. It was another little way for everyone to get involved, have a laugh and contribute to the day.

And yes, there were prizes. Because guessing jelly beans is serious business.

🎁 A Few Prizes Never Hurt

The jelly bean challenge wasn't the only way to add a little extra excitement to the event.

Our own prizes helped keep the competitive spirit alive and gave players something else to aim for beyond the golf itself.

Because let's be honest — sometimes knowing there is a prize waiting at the end can dramatically improve someone's commitment.

Suddenly, that one extra shot matters. That last guess matters. And suddenly everyone becomes an expert.

That's the beauty of events like this.

They create little moments that people remember.

🥤 Keeping the Players Refreshed

Golf under a hot spring sun is thirsty work.

So, of course, refreshments were available for the players throughout the day.

After spending the morning walking the course, swinging clubs and keeping an eye on the score, a chance to stop, refresh and recharge was more than welcome.

The refreshments also gave everyone another opportunity to relax and enjoy the social side of the day.

💙 More Than Just a Golf Day

Behind all the fun, games and competition was something much more important.

Prostate cancer awareness.

Events like this provide an opportunity to bring people together around a cause that deserves attention.

By raising funds, supporting awareness and creating opportunities for people to talk about prostate cancer, the day became more than simply another event on the golfing calendar.

It became an opportunity to contribute.

And that is what makes fundraising events so special.

You don't always need a huge stage or a complicated campaign. Sometimes you need a group of people, a golf course, a few good ideas, a jar full of jellybeans and a willingness to help.

From there, something meaningful can grow.

🏆 $12,029 Raised — A Result Worth Celebrating

After all the early mornings, golf swings, jellybean guesses, refreshments and sunshine, there was one result that stood above everything else.

$12,029 was raised for prostate cancer awareness.

That's an incredible achievement.

Every person who participated, sponsored, donated, organized, guessed, played or simply helped make the day happen contributed to that result.

The number represents much more than money.

  • It represents people coming together.
  • It represents generosity.
  • It represents awareness.
  • It represents community.
  • It represents the willingness to support a cause that affects many families and individuals.

So, while there may have been winners on the golf course, the biggest win of the day belonged to the cause.

A Personal Note

❤️ Simon Salm’s Note

A great day of golf is always enjoyable, but a great day that helps support an important cause is something even more special.

I'm incredibly proud of everyone who helped make the day happen and especially proud of the $12,029 raised for prostate cancer awareness.

Thank you to everyone who played, donated, sponsored, supported and got involved — including those who bravely took on the jellybean challenge!

Days like this remind us that when a community comes together, we can have a great time and make a real difference at the same time. ❤️
